This week, I continue to focus on point #1 of the 10 Things I Quit That Have Made a Huge Difference in My Life.
• I quit trying to change people and accepted it was me that needed to change.
I remember hearing Jay Yelas say, “Until my personal life was in order, my professional life was never all it could be.”
My wife is the most important person in the world to me. That’s easy to say but how do I show it?
How I Use My Cell Phone to Show Her She’s Important
Obviously, there are many ways I show my wife that she is important to me. When I am meeting with someone or a group of people who don’t know me, the first thing I do is tell them that there is only one person important enough to interrupt this meeting and that is my wife. I then explain that I will place my phone face up and that if my wife calls me two times in a row, I will excuse myself and answer her call.
I will tell you that I have never received a negative response from anyone, ever. So not only am I showing others that my wife is important, but I also show my wife that she is important and has access to me if and when she needs me.
Here’s how it looked when I first stumbled onto this idea. I sat my wife down and told her, “It’s one thing for me to say you are important. It’s another to show you and live it out.”
I then told her what I was going to do and what I was going to tell others. I told her that we would have a code. If she called once I may not answer but if she called again right away, it was her code that she needed me. This way I could always be there for my bride!
This will work with anyone in your life.
Looking Ahead
I hope you will consider visiting again next week when I share a story about my daughter, Marie. Today, she is my business partner and my best friend. But it wasn’t always that way. So what changed?
And the following week, I’m going to dive into point #2 of the 10 Things I Quit That Have Made a Huge Difference in My Life.
• I quit letting my past experiences and results dictate my beliefs and possibilities for my future.
Go out and make it a change week!
